Wild Turkey
Size - 36-48 inches long Habitat - Open woodlands, brushy forest edges, and wooded swamps. Nesting - The eggs are laid in a leaf-lined depression on the ground in the woods. Eggs - 8-20, white or buff marked with brown or red. Incubation about 28 days, by the female. Food - Insects, seeds, nuts, and berries. |
Canada Goose
Size - 22-48 inches long Habitat - Ponds, lakes, rivers, fresh-water and salt marshes, and grain fields. Nesting - The nest is a large hollow lined with plant matter and down. Eggs - 2 to 12. Incubation 25-30 days, by the female. Young leave the nest soon after hatching; stay with the parents until th following spring. Food - Aquatic plants, grass, grain, and small aquatic animals. |

Turkey Vulture
Size - 26-32 inches long. Wingspan of 6 feet. Color - Black, with long narrow wings and tail; underside of flight feathers silvery; head naked and small, red at close range. Habitat - Open country, farmland, and forests. Nesting - The eggs are laid on bare ground or in an old building, hollow log, or cave. Eggs - 1 to 3, white with reddish brown spots and blotches. Incubation about 39-40 days, by both parents. The young leave the nest at 11 weeks. Food - Carrion, some small mammals and birds. |
Mallard Ducks (male & female)
Size - 20-28 inches long. Habitat - Lakes, marshes, swamps, and parks. Nesting - The nest is a down lined hollow of grass and stems hidden in vegetation near the water. Eggs - 5 to 14, white or pale green. Incubation 26 to 29 days, by female. Young leave the nest soon after hatching; first fly at 8 weeks. Food - Seeds, snails, insects, and small fish. |
