Red-necked Grebe
Size - 17 to 22 inches long Habitat - Marshes, lakes and ponds. Nesting - The nest is a floating mass of marsh plants and mud anchored to the reeds or bushes. Eggs - 3 to 6, pale bluish. Incubation about 23 days, by both parents. Young leave the nest soon after hatching. Food - Fish, insects and crustaceans. |

Size - 12 to 15 inches long Habitat - Marshes, ponds, and quiet streams. Nesting - The nest is a floating mass of marsh plants and mud anchored to reeds or bushes. Eggs - 2 to 10, pale or bluish green, but soon stained with mud. Incubation about 23 days, by both parents. Young leave the nest soon after hatching. Sometimes 2 broods. Food - Fish, crustaceans, and insects. |
