White-breasted Nuthatch White-breasted Nuthatch

Size - 5 to 6 inches long
Habitat - Deciduous forests, suburban areas, and parks.
Nesting - The nest is a mass of bark strips, hair, and feathers at the bottom of a tree cavity or in a birdhouse.
Eggs - 5 to10, white, spotted with brown, red, and gray. Incubation 12 days, by both sexes.
Food - Seeds, nuts, fruits, and insects.
Red-breasted Nuthatch

Size - 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 inches long.
Habitat - Coniferous forests..
Nesting - The nest is a mass of bark strips, grass and plant fibers, at the bottom of a tree cavity, 5-100' above the ground.
Eggs - 4 to 7, white, finely spotted with brown. Incubation about 12 days, by both parents. Young leave the nest 18-21 days after hatching.
Food - Conifer seed and insects.
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Pine Siskin Pine Siskin

Size - 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 inches long.
Habitat - Coniferous woodlands, thickets of birch and alder trees.
Nesting - The nest is a large cup of grass, chips and rootlets, 3-50' above the ground, usually in a conifer.
Eggs - 3 to 5, pale blue-green, spotted with black and lilac. Incubation about 13 days, by female. Young leave the nest in 15 days.
Food - Seeds and insects.
Chipping Sparrow

Size - 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 inches long.
Habitat - Farms, yards, and pine woods.
Nesting - The nest is a neat cup of grass, stems, and rootlets, usually lined with hair.
Eggs - 3 to 5, pale blue green, marked with brown, lilac, and black. Incubation 11 to 14 days, by the female. Young leave the nest 8 to 10 day after hatching. Usually two broods a year.
Food - Seeds and insects.
